Ear Candles
A Traditional Wellness Ritual. Everyone naturally produces earwax, also known as cerumen. Occasionally, a buildup can cause a feeling of fullness in the ear, minor discomfort, or reduced hearing. Over the centuries, many cultures have explored different methods to support ear care and relaxation. One of the oldest being ear candling, also known as ear coning.
Ear candling is a traditional practice that has been referenced across diverse cultures, including ancient China, Egypt, Tibet, the pre-Columbian Americas, and Native American traditions. Today, it is often used as a gentle, holistic ritual by those seeking a calming and mindful wellness experience.
Ear candles are made from natural linen or cotton fabric dipped in wax, which hardens as it dries. The fabric is then formed into a hollow cone. When used correctly, the warmth created during the process is believed to help soften earwax and draw impurities into the candle. After use, a dark residue may be visible inside the candle stub.
Often enjoyed as part of a relaxation routine, ear candling is valued by many for the sense of calm and balance it can bring when practiced with care and awareness.
